Art and Hockey
There’s not a whole lot to say about the hockey, other than we lost all our games this year at the tournament in Phoenix. The way I see it is, sans some wins at least there is always time for art. I dragged Tricky down to the Paolo Soleri windbell gallery (a.k.a. Cosanti) in Scottsdale to view the spectacle that results when a madman has access to too much concrete. To be PC, Soleri is an eccentric artist and architect who envisioned alternative human lifestyles in his ecology-centered architectural designs. He also makes some crazy metal windbells and lives in a house that looks like it’s straight out of the video game Riven. Cosanti photos are here, along with some other random photos of Phoenix, but if you don’t have time for that I’ve selected a few below.
Here also are some photos of cacti and the people who love them from the Desert Botanical Gardens in Phoenix. How my camera didn’t liquify into a black puddle of plastic and glass I don’t know, because you literally could not touch anything in the garden without melting, searing, or being skewered by thousands of cunning thorns and spikes. Also in the set below is a ground squirrel who really liked kettle-cooked potato chips. The rest of the garden is here.
