Google Zurich

It’s been a week and a half now and I’m ready to say, guess who has a Swiss bank account? That’s right, now every time you’re thinking of PayPaling me, I can just open my silver metal briefcase, punch some buttons on the control panel, and instead have all of those funds wired right over to that secret Swiss account. I’ll need it too, since there isn’t even a franc in there yet. I’d make a terrible Bond villain.

We moved into our new office last Monday, which was excellent timing on my part, as I was able to claim my desk and arrange my office supplies in threatening patterns to keep others away from my space. In a stroke of genius, or rather, the opposite of that (a glob of idiocy?), the folks in Mountain View sent my machine and the rest of the hardware to me here in Zurich, and I spent the better half of last week trying to figure out how these things were going to plug in here. Luckily our IT folks begrudgingly helped me, in their difficult Scottish ways, to put my hard drive into a tower with a usable power supply and hook up both the new and old monitors (and now I even have a third monitor, if I want my desk to look like an IMAX theater with three 24″ monitors).

The new office has had a few set up pains, but overall it is entirely kickass, the technical term for being in a new Google office where everything was planned out from the get go. I’ve put a few photos here, but if you want to see it in all its glory, you’ll still have to go to the Google Zurich gallery. I should also mention the hot European guy with the blond hair (and the streak of extra blond down the middle with the tiny pony tail) who cooks us lunch and likes to correct our very bad German. Hot, I tell you.
