Thursday evening Kiwi and I were walking to the bus stop to head to my apartment and play some guitar. At the corner of Waffenplatzstrasse and Bederstrasse we heard a huge smashing of glass coming from a bus at that stop. Thinking a bicyclist had crashed into the bus and broken the window, we started to walk in that direction to see if anyone was hurt. That’s when Kiwi saw a guy shaking his hand and then walking smartly off down the street in the opposite direction. At the next intersection, he started running. The bus driver was clearly on the radio, and by the time we got over there it was pretty obvious the guy had smashed the window (which was part of the door) on purpose.
“Do you think he got in an argument with the bus driver?” I asked Kiwi.
“Yeah probably,” was his response.
I’m actually not so sure. Maybe he was simply fed up. Maybe there a lot more crazy people than we’ve been led to believe here in our perfect city of Zurich where everyone is happy all of the time, the streets are paved with used Ferraris, and everything is just so.
Of course, looking at this photo later I see that the glass is all on the sidewalk. Maybe the door got stuck and he just wanted to get out at that stop. Right? Right.

In one of life’s ironies, the fog never cleared from the CA coast today and we froze to death eating our tuna sandwiches. The sea gulls appreciated the left over pita read though, so I guess it wasn’t a totally wasted day after all.
btw – XDirtpushr expects some Tour coverage next week when you’re in France. He’s already co-opted our tv and is settling in for a month of Bob Roll’s horrible french accent and bad commentary. sigh.
